Wyoming teaches me a lesson...

So I figured I had adjusted here pretty well to the altitude (we are at about 5000 feet) and the heat. However, I decided today to take a 14 mile bike ride and realized I still have a lot to learn. It was really 7 miles to the chapel (where I rested for an hour with a fan so it was actually quite nice) and then 7 miles back. Not normally a bad ride...except I literally could not drink water fast enough to keep my body deydrated in the 110 degree heat (I found out it was that hot later.) The last two miles were spent praying I would make it home and literally not pass out and dreaming of shade (it is limited here in WY.) Therefore I spent the rest of the day trying to down 6 more Nalgenes of water and lying on the tile in our kitchen with cold compresses and ice all around me trying to stay cool and ignore my pounding headache and stomach that was threatening to release all it's contents. Lesson learned: don't go biking when it is 110 degrees out-the wind is even hot then. It is now almost midnight and barely bearable...I am already anxious for winter (someone please remind me of this when it is -50 degrees and blowing like crazy! HA!)
